Easy DIY Lip Balm Recipe

This all-natural lip balm recipe is so easy, even a child with supervision could do it. The great thing about this lip balm is that you can add other things to it to make a variety of flavors, colors or sensations. Healthier and more effective than many commercial brands, this basic recipe is where to start.

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon of ordinary beeswax. You can pick this up in the candle making isle at any craft store.
3-4 drops of vitamin E oil. You can buy the oil at a health food store or break open 3-4 vitamin E capsules. Do not use the outer coating, it will change the consistency and make it so that you lip balm doesn’t set up.
1 Tablespoon of Grape seed, Almond or other natural oil.

Instructions

In a sauce pan over medium-low heat, melt your beeswax. You want to do this slowly to prevent scorching. Stirring constantly, add your vitamin E oil and Grapeseed, almond or other oil. If you want to add flavoring or other ingredients, this is the point that you would do it.

Continue stirring until well melted and combined. Pour into lip balm jars, sticks or I prefer to use metal pill boxes. They have some cute designs and are relatively inexpensive. Let cool, and add the lid.

Two words of caution: If you want chocolate flavored, find some chocolate oils. Do not use chocolate chips. They don’t blend well with the wax. And if you add prepackaged flavorings that you can buy at a craft store, use the oil not the wax kind.

Enjoy!
